So Farewell then Brian Lironi…

As was pointed out in this blog last week (former) new head of press for the Labour party Holyrood group Brian Lironi was not to be spotted in Parliament.

I observed that it was perhaps as he was sick of George Foulkes. It seems I was wrong. He was sick if Wendy Alexander. It has been reported that after working for Alexander for a little over a week Lironi had enough. Calls in the middle of the night, shouting down the phone etc.

The rumour mill at parliament went into overdrive when Labour moved their central support unit from an office that is quite visible in the parliament’s garden lobby to a more secluded office – Alexander was none to pleased about the reports of her shouting at researchers.

There has been another intersting rumour dowing the rounds this week regarding an MSP who is very close to Alexander. The rumour goes that the MSP attempted to get themselves selected as the replacement candidate for John Reid now that he has chosen to retire from the House of Commons to spend more time with his Celtic season ticket.

The MSP in question was looking to head to the Commons as their partner is London based and so was hoping to see a bit more of them. However Reid himself and the MSP for the area Karen Whitefield put the kibosh on the move. But it could be just more tearoom chatter.
